Our Firm

At the Law Offices of Lawrence M. Simon, we stress personal attention and responsiveness. Our straightforward, plain-speaking approach will help you make decisions that resolve your particular legal need in a manner that is effective and affordable.

Attorney Lawrence M. Simon has substantial experience in jury and non-jury trials. As a Sustaining Member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America ("ATLA"), and an ATLA designated Advocate of Trial Advocacy, Mr. Simon constantly strives to achieve maximum recoveries for his clients, while using sound, reasonable, ethical, and state of the art approaches to litigation and negotiation. Mr. Simon is also a member of ATLA-NJ, NYSTLA, the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, and the Bergen County Bar Association.

Marguerite T. Simon, the mother of Lawrence M. Simon, serves as counsel to our firm. After twenty years on the bench as a Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Judge Simon is enjoying her return to private practice. She retired as the Presiding General Equity Judge of the Chancery Division for Bergen County in May of 2004, where she heard cases involving injunctive relief, election disputes, probate and guardianship matters, as well as several highly publicized and significant matters. Prior to becoming a Superior Court Judge in 1984, she had her own practice in Oradell, primarily handling large estates, land use matters, and commercial transactions on behalf of banking, corporate, and individual clients. Founding member and past President of the Woman Lawyers in Bergen County, Trustee to the Bergen County Bar Association, and Zoning Board Attorney for the Borough of River Edge are just some of her many accomplishments prior to her elevation to the bench.

Marguerite T. Simon is in charge of our firm's Mediation and Arbitration Services, and handles cases referred to her by the courts or private parties. Her vast experience as a Judge and attorney, and the tremendous respect the legal community has for her, have made her a highly sought after Mediator and Arbitrator. Mediation is a non-binding process in which a mediator or facilitator, works to create a global resolution of issues, and to successfully conclude or settle their dispute. Arbitration is a process, usually binding, in which an arbitrator acts as a Judge, hears evidence, and makes a final decision. Parties submitting disputes will have an opportunity to decide which alternate dispute method is best for their matter.

Lawrence M. Simon is a Rule 1:40 New Jersey Superior Court approved Mediator, and is part of the Official Roster of Mediators on the New Jersey Judiciary website. He serves as a court appointed mediator in Bergen, Hudson, Essex, and Passaic counties, and is available for private mediations throughout New Jersey. Court delays and case backlog is reduced by the resolution of cases through mediation and arbitration. Our firm is proud to assist our courts, and to help the parties involved in litigation find efficient and less expensive means of resolving their disputes.

Our support staff is lead by Mr. Simon's wife, Leslie Simon, our Senior Paralegal and Office Manager. Leslie completed her Paralegal Studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University (ABA Approved Program) and received her Bachelor's degree from Felician College, both with honors. A Trustee board member of the Legal Assistants Association of New Jersey (LAANJ) Leslie provides valuable assistance and advice to her fellow legal professionals, and takes pride in her work ethic. She is also a Paralegal Affiliate member of the ATLA and ATLA-NJ, a paralegal member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, and a member of the National Notary Association.
